Baccarat is a unique game in the casinos. First off there is the feeling of elegance about the game, the high-limit area roped off and the dealers dressed up like they’re dealing to royalty. The simplicity of the game is also unusual. In an era where everything is evolving quickly and becoming more and more advanced, the charm of baccarat still lies in the underlying simplicity of the game. Another unique trait of baccarat is that it is the only casino game to have a miniature version of itself. What is the difference between baccarat and mini-baccarat?

Honestly, there is not that much of a difference between the two games. Mini-baccarat is simply a version of the game that isn’t as fancy, and more readily available to the player with a lower bankroll. Baccarat is many things, but cheap is not one of them. Most baccarat tables start out at $25 minimum, which makes it a selective play. Mini-baccarat, however, plays for less money, often a $5 minimum, allowing more people the baccarat experience, at least on a level.

A major difference is the dealing of cards. In mini-baccarat, all cards are dealt by the dealer, face up. In baccarat, the bettors take cards from the shoe face-down, and then the cards are turned over in order, very formally.

The games really aren’t that different. If you want to learn the basics, try out mini-baccarat. If you have the money, however, try a standard game of baccarat. The higher price is worth it for the feeling of majesty standard baccarat provides.
