Blackjack Switch is a variation of blackjack that permits players to do what is normally considered cheating: trading cards between two hands.
The player must make two bets of identical size and is allowed to switch the second card dealt to each hand. Since nothing is free, a dealer 22 results in a push and blackjacks pay even money. Currently the game is available in assorted casinos in Las Vegas and Russia, and is part of the games offered by the Playtech Internet casinos.
Black Jack Switch Vegas Rules
The following rules are followed in Las Vegas:
All rules are based on traditional blackjack unless otherwise noted.
Eight decks are used.
Dealer hits soft 17.
The player must make two equal- sized bets.
Cards are dealt face up.
Dealer peeks for blackjack with an ace or ten up. If the dealer has a blackjack, all player hands are immediately lost, except a player blackjack, which results in a push.
The player can switch the second card dealt to each hand if they desire. For example: if one hand has 5/10 and the other has 10/6, the player can switch the 10 and 6 to have two hands of 11 and 20. The player may also switch cards to form blackjack.
Player can double on any 2 cards.
Player can double after a split.
Player can re-split up to four hands.
Winning player blackjacks pay even money.
A dealer total of 22 pushes against any player total of 21 or less. However, a player blackjack will still beat a dealer 22.
Blackjack Switch Russian Rules
The rules in Russia are the same as Las Vegas except for the following:
Player can take early surrender.
Dealer does not take a hole card.
Dealer stands on soft 17.
If player switches to make a blackjack it is treated as 21 points.
Blackjack Switch Playtech Rules
As of March 2006 Playtech was in the process of changing its rules to the Las Vegas version of Blackjack Switch. It has been reported that the game is not working properly, so it is recommended that players avoid that version of the game until the bugs have been worked out. |
