There are those who think that the idea of Rhythm Rolling is only for those gamblers who believe fervently in Big Foot, the Lock Ness Monster and travel to Roswell for their vacations. In other words, most don't believe that this is possible. The idea has persisted long enough for the management of a number of casinos to perceive it as a possible threat that may tip the delicate balance in favor of some Craps players. This is something that the casinos will not tolerate. In response to this perceived danger, many casinos have changed the rules that govern how dice may be thrown at their Craps tables.
Regulations have been placed to frustrate the players who believe that body position, throwing motion, and "English" give them a special edge at the Craps table. The rules on many gaming floors are as follows:
- You must handle the dice with one hand only
- You must choose only two dice from the five offered
- You can not toss them over your shoulder
- You can not toss them higher than line of sight of the dealers
- They must bounce, and then bounce off the opposing wall at the other end of the table
- They must be tossed, not slid or dropped
- The shooter must toss them so that he does not slow down or disrupt the game.
It is this last rule that many players find so vexing. Being "on the clock" prevents them from being able to set the dice. Without the ability to set the dice, the entire throw will be off, and act of Rhythm Rolling is short circuited before it even gets off the ground.
Some good slight of hand will help players get around these rules, but that takes practice. Spend a few hours trying it home before challenging the rules at the casino. |
