Playing Craps is rather easy, and once a player has learned the basic aspects of the game, it can be hours of enjoyment.
Obviously, this is a dice game. The first throw of the dice in a game of Craps is referred to as the "come out roll". Bets are made just before this initial roll of the dice. The opening bet is referred to as the "pass line bet".
Lighting can strike quickly in this game. A player may win on the first roll of the game if the pair of dice in play comes up as 7 or 11. Losing can happen just as fast if the total of the two dice is 2 (snake eyes), 3 (cross eyes), or 12 (box cars).
More often than not the player will not have a quick win or loss. If the total of the first dice throw equals 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 that number is "The Point".
Once the point has been established a small disc called the "Puck" comes into play. On one side of the puck is the word "On". The other side is predictably marked with the word
"Off". When the point is established, the puck is turned over to show the word "On". The puck is then put over the box on the table that represents the number rolled with the pair of dice. In other words, if the player rolls a 5, the corresponding box for 5 must be found on the table and the puck placed over it ("On" side up, of course).
To win the player must roll the point on their next throw of the dice. If they roll a seven, the game is lost. If neither number has been rolled the player will roll again. This will continue until either the point or a seven is rolled. |
