Adam took the long way around before finally settling into the ranks of professional poker. This Queens, NY native started his professional life plying his intellectual tools in industries that were about as different from poker as Apollo 13 is unlike from a warm bowl of custard.
Professionally, Adam has always erred on the side of reason and was successful in pursuits that necessitated an analytical viewpoint. In the days before Hold'em Adam was a prolific investor and an Associated Press reporter. It was his ability look at a situation without prejudice or emotional involvement and act accordingly. These are exactly the sort of skills that will make somebody successful at the poker table.
His analytical approach to the game does not mean that he is not someone who likes to enjoy his time at the table. Sitting at a table with Adam can sometimes seem like being in the front row of a stand-up comedy act. He comes to the game with good humor and a self depreciating style that makes himself the butt of most of his jokes. Whether or not this is actually part of an advanced psychological strategy, the end result is that opponents are quickly at ease around him.
Adam is a self described couch potato and television addict. For someone who claims he doesn't get out much though, he has managed to make some ripples in the world of poker. Since he started in 2001 Adam has won the title of "best overall" in Costa Rica in 2002, (his first tournament victory) and placed fifth at the WPT 2004 L.A. Poker Classic.
Adam does not spend all his time at the tables he is also an accomplished writer. His column can be found regularly in Card Player magazine. |
