| For many people, it’s the first card game they ever learned. Two kids could easily play: just deal the whole deck evenly among the two players. After that, both would turn over the top card. The person with the higher card took them both. The challenge, however, occurred when both players threw the same card. Then, it was war. Two more cards are thrown out; face down, the third is thrown face up. Whoever has the higher card this time takes all.
Well, this childhood card game is beginning to spring up at more and more casinos, however the rules are slightly changed. This is so multiple people can play, and also due to the fact that war in it’s classic form could take all day. Casinos simply don’t have that time.
Basically, it’s the same, just everyone plays against the dealer. Put down a bet, get your card. If it’s higher than the dealer, you win. If you tie the dealer, you can either go to war (double your original bet) or surrender (lose half of your original bet). The smart thing to do is go to war. The house advantage is less than if you surrender. In war, the dealer throws away two cards and gives you the third, throws out two more and gives himself the third. If you’re higher, you win the first bet. If you lose, they get both bets. If you tie again, you win. You can also make a tie bet which pays 10:1, but the house advantage is obscene, and the move is not recommended. |
