The graphics for Video Poker Strategy Pro attempts to give the player the sense they are standing in front of an actual video poker machine. Not only does the player see the entire machine in front of them, but even some of the sides as well. There is a variety of music to pick for the background, and players can also adjust the speed of the game. All-in-all, there is a solid attempt to duplicate the feel of the brick and mortar casino experience. While there are 60 games to choose from, about half offer less than 99% return and there are only 10 with a 100% return.
Video Poker Strategy Pro catches the players' mistakes and warns them, but does not show the difference in expected values. Players can view all previous mistakes by selecting the View Mistakes option from the View Menu. Players can also analyze hands from the Hand Analyze feature. After the player selects the hand and presses the analyze button, it shows a strategy table with the potential holds highlighted. The software also includes a strategy table for all 60 games, although the strategy and the expected return shown for the games is not based on "perfect" strategy but upon some other method. For those who do not aspire to professional level play, for the games that yield a high expectation, players will still be at or above 100%.
There are 60 games that are "pre-analyzed", but players cannot create a new game and analyze it with this software. As for strategy building, the strategies are already built-in and are the basis for the hand analysis feature. In summation, Video Poker Strategy Pro is recommended for intermediate video poker buff looking to sharpen their strategy and skills in between trips to the casino. |
